“The first Monday of August is known as British Columbia Day, BC Day or B.C. Day, in the province of British Columbia. It is a statutory holiday and gives Canadians in the province the chance to celebrate their achievements or relax with friends and family members.”

And what a lot of achievements can be celebrated this weekend by members of our Association!

I think you will all agree this has been a tremendous season and there has been a huge amount of energy, effort and subsequent reward, both in the box and off.

Congratulations to each and every one, and thank you for sharing all your extraordinary talents with us.

Greetings Parents and Players,

Lacrosse is one of the oldest sports around with its origins to be found in fifteenth century North America. The first games were used by Native Americans to solve disputes between tribes and to toughen tribe members in preparation for battle.

These days the game is a little more organized and civilized and players play with a small solid rubber ball and attempt to catch, carry, pass and shoot the ball into an opponent’s goal. They move the ball using a lacrosse stick which is a long-handled stick (or crosse) with netting which allows them to catch and hold the lacrosse ball. Players play on a soccer field with markings modified to the age and size of the participants.

Pacific Rim Field Lacrosse will be holding information and introductory sessions for those families interested in field lacrosse “free of charge”.
If you live in Saanich, the Saanich Peninsula and Victoria (Oak Bay, James Bay and all areas in Greater Victoria east of the Gorge Waterway until the View Royal/Saanich municipal boundaries).
