NOTE: Unless instructed otherwise by
the referees, all periods should be straight running time except for
the last five minutes of the third period and there are five or
fewer goals separating the two teams. This means that the only time
the clock is stopped is
- for a referee timeout (due to injury, equipment problem,

- during a play stoppage in the last five minutes of a close
game.
